Ossiculoplasty positioned via posterior tympanotomy.

چکیده
Tympanoplasty now frequently uses cartilage to repair bone lysis in the external auditory canal (EAC) and to reinforce the tympanic membrane. Once in place, however, the cartilage may complicate ossiculoplasty by obstructing visualization of the stapedial region. Posterior tympanotomy, when included in the tympanoplasty procedure, may provide an interesting means of positioning the ossiculoplasty.

Comparison of visualization of the middle ear by microscope and endoscopes of 30° and 45° through posterior tympanotomy
INTRODUCTION Endoscopic-assisted microsurgery of the middle ear enables the field of view of the surgeon to be expanded during the removal of inflammatory tissue from the tympanic cavity and during myringo- and ossiculoplasty. Canal wall up tympanoplasty with posterior tympanotomy is a gold standard in surgical treatment of chronic otitis media. Most applications of endoscopy in middle ear surg...
متن کامل[Application of the endoscopy in the middle ear surgery].
Endoscopy is used in the middle ear surgery for above twenty years when decrease of cholesteatoma recurrence due to employing endoscope was revealed in comparison to standard microscopic only visualisation. Endoscopy may be the only way of visualisation in transcanal myringoplasty for the retraction pocket, stapedoplasty and transcanal ossiculoplasty. In canal wall up or second look tympanoplas...
متن کاملModifications on the Alternative Method for Cochlea Implantation
House 1 introduced the classic surgical technique for cochlear implantation. This surgical technique consists of a mastoidectomy and a posterior tympanotomy and this approach is still worldwide the most frequently used technique for cochlear implantation. This classic surgical technique uses a complete mastoidectomy with an attempt to leave a bony overhang posterior and superiorly to capture th...
متن کاملStapes Crural Fracture without Perilymph Fistula by Q-Tip Injury
We report a rare case where Q-tip induced mixed hearing loss without perilymph fistula and demonstrate the need for computed tomography imaging with three-dimensional reconstruction where fracture and dislocation of the stapes are suspected. A 28-year-old male experienced an accidental penetrating injury by a Q-tip in the right ear 6 years previously. Temporal bone computed tomography revealed ...
متن کاملChanges in caloric responses after temporal bone surgery with posterior tympanotomy.
OBJECTIVE To elucidate the role of facial recess bony plate in the thermal transmission route from external auditory canal to lateral semicircular canal during caloric stimulation test, we performed the test on patients before and after removal of the plate, i.e. posterior tympanotomy. In the present study, we adopted facial nerve decompression (FND) as posterior tympanotomy without surgery-ind...
